Anitra Ford began as a model during the sixties, but her heyday was definitely as a “Barker Beauty” on the Price Is Right from 1972-1976. During this time she appeared in numerous TV shows including Baretta, Starsky & Hutch, and Wonder Woman. She also had a small role in The Longest Yard, and was featured in numerous B movies of the period.Anitra’s fame dried up by the end of the seventies. She moved on to real estate in Santa Barabara. She is also a published poet…. which seems only natural, because to kids of the 70’s, Anitra was poetry in motion.
I am indebted to the amazing Bleat blog for reminding me of the lovely Anitra, and posting these incredible pictures to swipe. Also a thanks to Kevin for pointing me in the right direction.

She makes even those hideous mustard-colored items seem like something I want to bid on!
ReplyDeleteThat black skirt is way too short! Looks inadequate to cover her fanny.
ReplyDeleteduhh... thats the point.
DeleteWas there any other reason to watch The Price is Right? :-)
ReplyDeleteDarius, a co-worker just showed me a hilarious video clip about a snake bite from an old movie... turns out, he was on your blog! Your influence is far reaching.

Notice that Sid Haig of "Devil's Rejects" fame is also in it.
Wow! I never knew who she was before seeing this blog post. Glad you posted about her. What a set of legs.
ReplyDeleteI always felt THE PRICE IS RIGHT jumped the shark when Anitra Ford left. Well, not really but all those blondes and redheads that followed were never as lovely as she.
